Books I read in 2025
I'm pretty sure this is all of them.
Earlier this year I decided to document my Books Read list. I’d never done this before since I’m not a huge fan of reading goals. This is probably a character flaw, related to my competitiveness with myself. If I set a goal of reading 100 books a year, I guarantee that 50% of those books will be books I actually want to read, 35% will be books I feel I should read but don’t actually want to read, and the remaining 15% will be junk mail I’ve stapled together into something resembling a book. For me, reading goals have the downstream effect of “When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure,” which is called Goodhart’s Law, which I know because I just looked it up.
Goodhart’s Law aside, I found keeping a list helpful. Mostly because whenever my friends ask me what I’m reading lately, I can now consult my handy list instead of trying to sift through the deep recesses of my brain where my childhood home phone number and AOL password reside. It also spurred me to branch out and read more than just my old favorites. Though I should note that in Q4 my reading dropped off drastically since I’ve been in full on research/writing mode for my next novel. As of now I’ve only read four books since September.
So here it is, in all its glory. My 2025 book list. (*denotes a new read for me)
